Ramblings of a choc-fanatic on Cinco De Mayo
Today, after listening to yet another child of mine be sick in the night....I went completely cookoo.I grabbed the bleach and new scrubby and set out to decontaminate our house.(Achilles is allergic to strong smells, they set off his asthma INSTANTLY so I rarely get a chance to use any normal chemicals...let alone BLEACH!)Long story short--while I am still reeling from the chemical high, and my lungs keep rebelling when I draw air in... my bathrooms are postively GLEEMING! Later,I had to drop off my quilt to be quilted (my friend bought herself one of those fantastic quilters that cost a FORTUNE and in exchange for babysitting her kids when she flies out to Colorado to look for houses, she quilts my stuff! yay me!). And then I needed to pick up Sprite for the sickies and vanilla (for cookies)from the store.Just an aside: I always lecture Achilles about going to the store HUNGRY because he spends a fortune on garbage. I should have chosen more tender words, since now I have to eat them.... I was recovering from the bleach-a-thon...I hadn't been hungry when I left the house.But.The moment I walked into the commissary I realized it was Cinco De Mayo. And there are people set up. Selling stuff. With samples.:::tummy-growling:::*sigh*Not only did I buy crap I never buy...I had to go down the 'sprite' aisle..which mirrors the candy aisle. And I bought. junk.Tons of it.Chocolately. ooeey-gooey chocolate.ANd THEN ...as IF that wasn't BAD ENOUGH...the next isle was offering coupons for buying brownie mix. BROWNIE MIX!you have to buy 5 to get the $1.00 off.so I did.I wheeled over to the check out, determined not to put another stupid thing in my cart...I passed the magazine section, you know the kind...with all those small mini-cookbook's there... with. yummy. stuff. on. the . cover. HOW DID THEY KNOW THAT THE MOLTON LAVA CAKE from CHILI's is my favorite and I've always wanted to know how to make it because there are very few things I really love to eat at chili's and mostly just go so I can have the cake!?I threw the darn thing in the cart, but had to go back for the ingredients and for the ice-cream to go over the top, oh. and. the. magic shell. All under the premise that I would make it Sunday night, to celebrate Achilles return.'Cept, I keep thinking about it.because I want. it. now.so I have decided that I will make one tonight to "tryout" the recipe so that I can make it again on Sunday without any "errors". Achilles will appreciate that.I know, I know. I'm always such a giver.*sigh*The sacrifices one must make for one's family.
