credit-schmedit
When we were young, we would volley between smart and stupid where our money was concerned.
When we were smart, we were very very smart, and when we were dumb, we were horrid.
For the past 10 years or so we have truly tried to be smarter about our debts. We closed accounts. We paid cash wherever we could. We paid everything off as soon as we could. And then we tried to live within our means. This doesn't mean we haven't had set backs...or made stupid choices still. But we're actively trying to do the right things. This week, we received a copy of a credit report that showed a debt from 5 years ago, that we didn't realize we hadn't paid. A measly $75... that we never realized had been sent to collections. All this time, we'd been struggling to get our credit in good standing. And because there are so many credit reporting agencies...and we only receive one report usually.... we had no idea what was holding us back. My advice: STAY OUT OF DEBT.
Learn while you're young.
Make better choices than we did.
Double check to make sure you don't owe anyone you thought you had paid off.*sigh*
