Universal bond???

Is Motherhood a universal bond??
I read this over at brainchildmag.com...and have been gnawing on that thought for most of the day.
At first, my instinct was a resounding "YES". After all, who knows better how I feel as I try to raise strong, healthy, wise children, but other mothers.
Becoming a mother has made my sisters and I closer. We laugh and cry, comiserating and rejoicing together the anguish and joys of being mothers. We share our own experiences... hoping to help the other avoid pitfalls we come across... or share our joys, adding to the pride we feel as family. We laugh at each other's funnies... we offer hope to the potty trainers... we discuss differences and tools for raising different genders... name it & we talk about it.
But as for a universal bond? I find I don't feel that bond with other women so much. And I suppose it's mostly because a lot of the women I run into don't keep it REAL. They try to paint this picture of the perfect kids... and rarely show reality.
Sometimes, Kids are kids. They make mistakes and do dumb things. Why not just own up to it!?
So, What do you think?? Do you think Motherhood is a universal bond? I'd be curious to know what you think!
