Snow-Schmo
I hate snow. I try to like it. I try to be optimistic. Each year, I see the first snow fall and think maybe this will be the year that I really learn to love snow. It never happens. Oh, the first snowfall IS beautiful.....soft, beautiful flakes cascading gently to the ground. The whole world covered in white stillness, is breathtaking. It muffles the sounds, and seems absolutly reverent. Then the white junk hits the fan! The slush, slop and gunk that comes from days and days and weeks and weeks of freezing, melting, refreezing, remelting. Two weeks ago, when the groundhog saw it's shadow, it was actually warming up and the birds were singing in the trees. We had 2 sunny days and above 40 degree weather the whole week. I decided that I would put out the geraniums, bogonvillas, and a hardy chinese flowering plant that I nursed carefully, and tediously through the winter. I should have known better. Yes, it snowed the very next day. Not just a light dusting, but a dumping. And it has continued to snow all week long, and melt just enough to have wet roads and refreeze. So bad that our Tuesday night activities were cancelled, the Cub Scout hike is cancelled saturday, and if it keeps going this way they will cancel Sunday meetings, because people live in such rural areas. WHEN WILL SPRING GET HERE? I will be ready for the beach in March.
