like father like son

I've been so blessed to be able to tend my nephew and 2 neices while my brother and his wife have an anniversary weekend in Vegas. I was touched they asked...and have thouroughly enjoyed myself.
I should have known how hilarious my brother's kids would be, as he is such a riot, himself. The entire weekend I have been entertained by their quick wit and hilarious antics, that my sides are positively aching.
They find joy in simple things, like McD's playland, watering pumpkins, and swinging at the park.
E has found another "best cousin" in H... and the two of them have played non-stop, princess, queen, picnic, tea-party. Yesterday, I combed their hair into matching piggytails and there is no doubt that they are related. Lil' J just turned 5 and is all boy--through and through...He is full of energy and bursting to always tell me something cool... (reminds me of another nephew I have almost the same age) and he is very animated, which makes me giggle right out loud. Lil' H is a darling--she is this petite tiny thing who doesn't look old enough to walk. But walk, run, climb is what she does best! She is quick to smile and had no problems coming to me-even though we'd never met before. She is a cuddle bug and so I have been taking advantage of that since it's been positively ages since I had a baby who'd cuddle with me.
I'd forgotten how wonderful it is to put kids to bed at 8pm and have the rest of the evening to myself... but I'd also forgotten how early little ones get up--especially when excited to play with cousins. ((I'll be going to bed early myself tonight!!! :) ))
I had forgotten how sweet it is to have little kids who get along with my own... My own M,J, and L all have favorite cousins they look forward to visiting everytime we have visited my family... but AJ & E haven't really had cousins really close to their own ages. So it has been fun to watch little friendships build.
And while Lil J isn't exactly the spitting image of his dad--- there is so much resemlence there--- I keep having flashbacks to when we were kids...and Big J was 100% and making us laugh.
"Got my hotdog.. See?"
