The Dramatic Arts...
Girls are dramatic... but none in my family so dramatic as my wee 6-year old. She knows that biologically that she's the youngest. She certainly doesn't believe that she shouldn't be giving out advice to anyone else in the family. Or that people shouldn't listen to her every request. She has perfected the art of making people do what she wants... some would say she manipulates... and that's surely true, but it's an art with her. People don't even realize it until it's too late.
Oh, I see it. And I try to warn them. But I get the "Oh, she's so cute and funny... I doubt she could manipulate anyone" scenerio. BAH. Don't let that angelic face snow ya. Her latest dramatic performance debuted this afternoon, as she came in from the playground. She huffs in... clearly aggitated. "ALL THAT WORK". *explosive huff* "ALL THAT EXHAUSTING WORK!"*Hands slap to her sides, for effect* I look over at her, puzzled and confused. "What work? What's wrong?" I search her face, wondering if the boy who always shows his crush by knocking over her sand creations is at it again. *She puts her head down for a moment to let the moment work* "ALL THAT EXAUSTING WORK TYING MY SHOES IN DOUBLE KNOTS..." *hands raised to the ceiling, in mock shock* "ALL FOR NOTHING--THEY JUST KEEP COMING UNDONE!!" *she slaps her forhead, clearly exhausted.* "I guess I'll just have to wear my sandles." Does she think I forgot that I'd already told her NO on the sandles in 30* weather?? I gently remind her of what I told her in the beginning and that she'd have to just have me double knot them or stay inside. She thinks for a minute... then asks... "Can I wear my other shoes?" I replied that she could wear any shoes but her sandals. 3 minutes later, she comes out with her rain boots on... the ones that are sporting a hole in the toe and a string missing on the top of one. Oh well, the ghetto look should go well with the dress over the jeans-look she was sporting after I told her to put on some jeans before she left the house. I need to remember to be more specific. Maybe no one will notice, with what the "self-made" ponytail she's sportin'...along with the pbj face.
