A mustang by any other name...
I wonder why kids think that just because we drive a mini-van, mini-bus, or any Uhaul-shaped vehicle that we actually planned as children to do that as adults. In my tiny bubble of childhood, I always dreamt that I would drive a Jaguar. When I progressed into pre-teendom, I went with a Firebird or Corvette since at that time, they were very popular. As tweenie-time turned Teenhood, I imagined myself in a Jeep--or some sort of 4-wheel drive. My all time dream now would to have any car that doesn't require carseats, DVD players installed, or a sunshade with Dora on all the rear windows.... something that gets great gas mileage, but looks fun, drives fun, and doesn't require a masters degree in electronics to figure out all the gadgets. My son informed me today that when he grows up, it's no VAN for him.... he wants "the car with the horsey on it." "You know", he says simply...."A Mustang". I explain that a mustang loses it's charm with carseats, Dora sunscreens, and "I LOVE YOU, YOU LOVE ME" blaring out the whoofers. Or is that the tweeters? I digress.... I ask him what he will do with all those wonderful grandsons he is planning to give me, because they won't all fit into the "Horsey Car". He said quite simply... " Well, my wife will be driving the van, they can all go with her."
