Fireside: E wants to know)

Everytime there is a fireside at the church, E wants to know exactly where they put the fire.... "Is it in the chapel or in the font?" she asks matter-of-factly, with hand-on-the-hip firmness. Last night, my teen daughters had their monthly fireside. They mentioned they needed to bring brownies, but thankfully they remembered Saturday so we could continue to try not to go to the store on Sunday. The fireside was at a member's house about 30 minutes away. She is a member of the YW presy. I like her- because you can tell she really TRULY has a testimony of the gospel. She practices what she preaches. She has 3 little girls that are really sweet. She has shared her testimony in the past in Sacrament Meeting and mentioned on more than one occasion how much she really loved being around her parents and her 9 siblings. I have always sort of thought, "Well, of course she loves her parents, but as we all do.... in the parent-child sort of way." She always has mentioned how much she enjoyed FHE and family discussions while growing up. So last night, her parents were the speakers for the fireside. She introduced her parents to us as 2 of her very favorite people. Her mother began the evening by singing a sweet song while playing the guitar. Nice woman, very sweet, and I felt she was expressing the very depths of her soul while she sang. It was a nice song...and she was very passionate. Then her dad spoke. It is no wonder she loved FHE and family discussions growing up. No wonder she is so steeped in knowledge about the church. He is the Institute Director at Dixie College, in St. George, now. He spoke about the 200th celebration of the birth of Joseph Smith. I have to say that I learned more about Joseph Smith last night then I think I have learned in my entire life. And I feel so thankful that my daughters did too. On the drive home, we talked about what we learned. The girls were excited to read the Book Of Mormon cover to cover now. He was so motivating. Got us excited about the gospel. We may never be famous, but neither is the man who baptized Brigham Young. We all have a worthy purpose on this earth. Something to think about.
