Driving home with Mom

Over the past 2 years, I have been trying to be better at keeping in touch with family.
And quite frankly,
I stink at it.
Time flies by and all of a sudden, it's been a month since I spoke to anyone.
I could blame the fact that when I moved out at 17, my family moved to Germany....
It's not cheap to call there, so I reserved my calls for holidays:
Mother's Day, Christmas, etc.
And then when I got married, I moved to Germany... and my parents moved to England.
Still not cheap.
And not cheap to call stateside to my siblings.
We kept moving far away from everyone, even when we got to the states.

But it doesn't excuse it now that I am stateside permanently now.
I stink at it.
So, I've set aside the commute home to talk.
My favorite conversations so far have been with my mom.
She makes me laugh nearly every time we talk.
And she makes me think.
All too quickly, I am home and have to attend my kids and sadly, have to hang up.
But, I look forward to the next week, when we chat again.

Miss you, Mom.
