Name Calling..

My sister posted an interesting discussion about names and where they come from. (LOLLY I hope you don't mind me stealing a bit on the subject). She mentions todays names are all about how unusual people can get with their name choices. It sure got me to thinking about the names around me.... I personally have odd nephew's and nieces names--Talon, Cannon, Chris P. Bacon...named after his mother who was Christine (Chris) , Maiden name starting with "P" and married a man named Bacon. Bohdee is a recent choice, as is Grayson and now a niece named Havalah who was born yesterday to my brother and his wife. My other brother is having a boy this month, and it will be named Thomas Alexander (a beautifully strong name) and they will be calling him Xander. Scarily reminiscent of Buffy's friend in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. One of my sisters used a family name "HANLON" as her sons middle name, which has actually grown on me. One of my sisters-in-law decided to use her own name as a pattern for her kids...Her name is AMEE, so her kids are EMALEE, ANDEE,CONLEE,JADEE, and the aforementioned BOHDEE. Her husband's name is Kevan...but just so he isn't left out...they call him HEAVY KEVEE. This name on a 200lb ex-hockey player isn't exactly flattering necessarily, but somehow it just stuck. In my primary---the sunbeams class have a : KYLER, SKYLER and TYLER. We have ashleigh, ashley, and ashlie. We have Sarah, Sara, and Sera. Unusual or Unique names there? Terrika, Faun, Georgia, Brie, Tage...and las but not least, Hawkins and Kahner, who are brothers. My walking partner's mother was named LEAFY which is a family name, and then married a man named GARDNER. A lady in my ward in Texas was named Robyn and married a guy with the last name Robbins, and in the same ward we had a girl named Fern who married Bro. Green. My great-grandfather-in-law's name was ELMO OWSLEY TANNER. That's just mean. What were his parents thinking??! We named all of our children older, less-common names because our relatively easy last name get's slaughtered more times than not.
Now that we used them...They are everywhere. Usually in the top 5 of baby name lists
. Figures.
