Service with a smile

Yesterday, AJ had another of his whopper headaches, ** and so was unable to go to cub scouts. On the one hand, I was relieved...because YW/YM was at my house, so it was one less thing to worry about... but on the otherhand.. I was so sad for him. He has always liked being a cub scout, but since we moved into our new ward, he has done more than he had the first 2 years as a cub. AMAZING. His den leaders have been fantastic.
As I tried to organize my thoughts to post this, I used the dictionary to look up "SERVICE".Here's what I came to first....
Assistance; help
An act of assistance or benefit; a favor:
When the YW/YM began showing up at my door, last night, AJ's Den mom arrived, bringing her 2 youths and her own cub son. She saw that AJ was feeling better, so asked me if I'd mind if she did the den meeting with him that he missed, while she waited for her kids.
ESQUEEZE ME? BAKIN'POWDER???? Would-I-MIND?!?!?
Um. No. I don't mind.
While the YW/YM activity progressed, and I was side-tracked with all of that mess...She did the entire meeting for him from beginnning to end ... so that he could sign of one whole section of his bear.WOW. can I just say WOWWOWWOW??? She SO didn't have to do that but chose to.
So, today, after reading those definitions about service, I skimmed down to find this definition
Active devotion to God, as through good works or prayer
and feel that this is a much better definition of this wonderful lady.
Incidently, this great lady is also our ward organist (never learned to play the organ, but the bishop asked her to anyway), Primary pianist, mother of 3, and her husband is currently serving in Iraq for 18 months.
Wow.
"To give real service, you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money; and that is sincerity and integrity." ~~ Douglas Adams
**AJ has been suffering headaches about once a week or once everyother week for about 6 months.... blinding headache, nausea, after thowing up will sleep for an hour or two and then feel better. With all the migraines in our family, both immediate and extended... I wouldn't doubt he is suffering from them as well. Poor Dude**
