Tv-Turn off

This week is National TURN OFF THE TV Week!
Has your family ever tried it??
Our family watches very little TV... every single child of mine is quite happy curled up with a good book, or playing board games, or doing the crossword puzzel or sodoku in our local paper....or just playing around.
That being said, there are a few shows we watch on a regular basis. American Idol and Amazing Race we watch faithfully. We love to laugh and learn from these people. It's a great platform for my kids to see what it takes to "make it" (AI) and what it takes to be the "better person" (AR). Occasionally, the kids will watch Disney-- Phil of the Future is one they catch every now and again.. but usually they're too busy playing.Occasionally, after I'm in bed... I flip on the TV to see what the news has to say or to catch "Everybody Loves Raymond" to get my laughs in. I love that show because every single person in that show makes me laugh. Hilarious. Once in a while I'll surf TV to see what other shows are new etc. But mostly, a good book is just the ticket for winding down after a busy day.
So, we've never actually done the whole "week-long" thing....because it wouldn't really be that big of a sacrifice for us....
I suppose we could try it... the kids and I. I dunno if I can give up the IDOL or RACE. Hmmm.
Does that sound a bit 'graven image'-ish????
egads.
As for my husband?? FORGEDDABOUDDIT.
It's NBA Playoffs.
