Dilemma...

Santa comes to our house.
We've always played the game with our kids.
We always talk about how we can be "Santa's" to other people who don't have much... and mostly talk about the spirit of giving.
Our main focus is on Christ's birth... but we still have Santa come and deliver presents.
I've heard some parents debate on the detriment this causes kids.
And I don't agree.
I loved this game when I was growing up..... I loved the excitement of the magic in the season.
And I love doing it with my kids.
Each of my children as they approach baptism age or a tad bit after... discovered about Santa in different ways.
We have always wanted them to sort it out on their own time... so that they could learn to trust their own feelings and deductions on the subject.
This year, we are faced with a dilemma.
Our one and only boy... 11 1/2 year old... still believes. Mostly.
Meaning, he has begun to think about the idea of "magic" and if it actually exists in the real world. He tap dances around the subject...but doesn't really talk about it head on.
So we wait.
The dilemma we are now faced with is....
The boys in AJ's scout den and primary class are all pretty tough. They love to make fun of someone about anything they can think of..especially weaknesses. They pick on kids for stupid things...
And...
They each know about Santa.
My concern is that they'll find out he still believes, and tease him mercilessly.
To the point of humiliation...
I don't want that for him.
So, we (the parents) have begun discussing the idea of how to tell him...and if it would be the right thing or not.
What do you think?
I don't want to take anything away from him... but I don't want humiliation either.
*sigh*

Such a tough call. Silly us are still tryig to convince Bubba to believe so that when he gets in one of his moods he won't spoil it for the others.

Wishing you the best of luck on this journey. Let us know how it goes.
