In the land of Toto

Well, I have been here in the state of Kansas for 2 weeks. In my new house, for one solid week tomorrow. So much has happened that I don't know where to start. We went to our new church today.... Yup---the military-LDS church circle is wayy small.It seems to happen everywhere we go.We saw a family we knew in Texas...from about 1997 or so.It's funny to me that I recall this family a lot different then they are now. You know how you look at someone who seem so perfect? Who seems to have it all together? Um. Yeh. Not so much together as I thought! Still nice, but not so unapproachable. Strange to see them after all these years. We met with our Bishop...and he asked the usual pointed questions..."what callings have you had?"As much as I had planned out my responses, suggestions at simple callings....I found I couldn't say them outloud. They sounded shallow & ungrateful. How selfish of me, after all Heavenly Father has provided me with. So, we listed all we have done in the past, and mentally ran for cover. The Bishop came to our house after church...asking what A's work schedule is like... hinting at opportunities to be called already to a calling. Yikes. The people are really nice in our ward... and the cherry on top of this Sundae,er I mean Sunday, was when my kids came home saying that this is the friendliest ward we've EVER lived in. The 3 in primary jumped around in glee telling me all about what they did. The teen's were less-outwardly enthusiastic, yet still wearing smiles that I haven't seen in some time. "Even better than Stuttgart??" I asked incredulously..... The daughter who struggled the most to leave her dear friends and first real crush behind, positively BEAMED her answer. "Better."

You better make mine a double.

* *Sundae, that is.
