What is it?????

Sunday I had a lady come up to me and ask how old I would let my daughter date.
I was confused and said, "The usual 16 is when we let our kids date."
She replied, "No, I mean how old of a boy would you let your daughters date."
I know this woman... and her son. And all I could think of was "Please, No."
In my mind, I was thinking... "She can only date people who don't have the last name G********." I won't go into what kind of kid he is....
Yikes.
It got me to thinking about it, though....
Seriously, I don't have a date age limit.
If the guy is 30 or something, then obviously I wouldn't be thrilled.
But a few years isn't really a big difference.
I am nearly 7 years younger than my husband.
My only desires for my kids, is that they date people who are motivated, hard working and have a plan for their lives that doesn't include "Professional video game player" or "THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL."
Although, were David Archuleta were to ask my daughter... I'd definately say YES!
Back to reality...
It isn't the first time a parent has asked me similar questions-it's overwhelming how often people ask me this...and all I can say is
1) WHAT is that about ??
and
2) If you have to ask like that... the answer is NO.
*sigh*

ROFL.... I think we should post a list by the phone and front door of the house like the bad check lists at stores. If your name is on the list don't even bother to ask our daughter on a date!

Oh the horrors of motherhood. Having 2 boys and 2 girls I will have to survive both sides of that nightmare. At least there is 9 years between my boys and hopefully Moe won't have to live up to standards set by Bubs or even worse, try to explain to other families how different he REALLY is from his brother LOL!

Great, I hadn't even thought about that till just now!
My sister (17) had a 27 year old leave comments about her boobs on her myspace page. She ate it up, which would signal to me that 1)Clearly she's not mature enough to date a decade older, and 2)Clearly he doesn't see that and is old enough to know better. So I'm definitely saying a big no to that big of a difference until she gets older. As they get older though the difference isn't as big of a deal. I mean, my stepmom and dad have an 18 year difference, but she was in her late 20's when they met. Big diff from 17!
What if they're going to be a professional American Idol video game player, is that better?
