Define Perfect.
Yesterday, after WW, I went to a birthday lunchdate.....with girls that, incidently, all go to WW with me.
We laughed about silly 'MOM' experiences, and silly 'WOMAN' experiences.
Then, we got to talking about how we sabbatage ourselves, by not taking a compliment when one is given.
Husband says: "Oh, you look good today, Sweetie." I hear: "...As opposed to yesterday, when you looked like a fat, unkempt, cow".
Lady at church says: "Wow, you have beautiful eyes!"I hear: "Well, yah, because that's the only part on my body that isn't FAT!"
Friend says: "You look so cute."I hear: "...for a fat girl."
Every single one of those ladies agreed that they do exactly the same thing.
Why do we do that?
The entire world is caught up with image...in one form or another.
Even people in my ward, with daughters the same ages of my children. They try to outdo each other, in the "No-one-is-as-skinny-as-my-daughter" competition.
Who really cares!?
What I remember most about a person is how they treat people, and what they stand for... and rarely about anything to do with their body.
Goal this month?
To be gracious when someone takes the time to say something sweet to me.
Not to take every compliment, and shred it to bits before I process it.
To compliment other people about something wonderful.
To resist the urge to have a quick comeback that puts myself down.
"Every man and woman alive is gifted by God in some special way. People who have a self-image of worth are going to see value in what they do. This is the attitude that motivates them to be and to do their best. It's a drive that comes from within people." ~~ William Walton
