A boo-boo
Our friend's freshly- just-turned-18 year old Brandon was in a hurry to get to his pal's house... and forgot that I was parked behind him.
Oops!
He came in, laid his keys down in front of his mother and said,"You may as well both shoot me now". I didn't catch on but his mother flipped out.
He was penitant and so so sorry--and his mother was furious, mostly because we're friends and she felt bad.
I told them it was ok..it was an accident..and it's just 'stuff'.
Later on, during games and silliness,
He says to me," I know I just backed into your car...and you probably don't trust me with anything of yours that's valuable.. but could I take your daughter to the movies on Tuesday?"
We all burst out in laughter.
I love that kid.
And I feel safe knowing that he will be extra careful with my valuables from now on.
“It is a mortifying truth, and ought to teach the wisest of us humility, that many of the most valuable discoveries have been the result of chance rather than of contemplation, and of accident rather than of design" ~~Charles Caleb Colton
