Life in the fast lane
Life here is just the same, although the landscape is almost unrecognizable since my last visit--nearly 5 years ago.
The people are just the same...
Driving here,in this city, has been an adventure. Everyone LOVES to reference streets by their OLD names, and forget to tell me the new name-- hence I have been getting lost. A lot. You know the scenerio... "Go down the the 2nd street after the place where the old Mcgregors barn burned down a few years back... to 72nd....(Which is really 7200 and which is now called Fort Union... a tiny fact that 2 different, unrelated people, have managed to forget to mention~) blah blah blah". On a better note---I am getting better at finding where things are on my own.
Seeing my in-laws after nearly 5 years has been quite a shock for my husband, I think. He really wasn't ready for them to actually look their age. They have always been people who are very active and spry... and they still are for their age... but alas, move very slowly, are hard of hearing, and my MIL battles a shaky arm that really embarrasses her. Seeing her was a shock to me as well, as she has always had "Enhanced Brunette" hair, and after her mother passed away, she let her hair go to it's natural white.
Internet access is nearly nil.... my inlaws don't have access... because (In the words of my Mil) "then my brothers won't leave me alone". lol This is the first time I have checked my email... and after that---couldn't resist coming over to say HI!
I miss the outlet of typing out my feelings and thoughts...by the time I got here, I'd forgotten so many things I wanted to share... so I guess I need to keep a little notebook so I can remember the cool stuff.
Until next time....
Hugs!
