Homey
Have you ever spent time at someone's home that has exactly your taste ... but, as in my case, have never been able to really acheive it, and then come home to your own... sickened at how unorganized and cluttered your's has gotten!? Welcome to my world... A new family moved into our ward recently. I'd never met her, as I'd been in Primary so long, and her son came to nursery the week I went to Relief Society for the first time in a year and a half. People told me about them, and would follow with... "Oh, you'd probably recognize her if you saw her". Anyway-- Yesterday, I went over to my friend Linda's house to keep her company after minor surgery while her family had to do some other things. While I was there, this new lady called and asked if Linda could tend her daughter while her son had a sleep-observation done. Since she was incapacitated, Linda volunteered me...sight unseen and I was happy to help out. I was more concerned that the lady might feel weird, yet obligated to leave her child with someone she'd never met. When I walked into her home this morning...I felt a nice connection with her. We instantly hit it off...and felt totally at ease. We talked and laughed for a little while before she had to leave... and found we have a lot in common. (Perfect, since we are ready to move soon.:P).. but not only was I impressed she'd already unpacked all her things and gotten rid of the boxes, but doubly impressed with how beautiful her home is. I LOVED EVERYTHING she had done there. Simple and cottage-y... and so comfortable. Now, in most cases, it's easy to make your home exactly the way you want... beautiful, but given the German style and and opportunities...to have a home that is beautiful is quite an accomplishment. I have mostly made do with the things I could get my hands on. Well, you guessed it. Most of you know I've been in overdrive, working on purging the 3 years worth of STUFF we've accumulated that we no longer use... BUT I am in overdrive to make/buy things I want instead of settling with things that make everyone else happy! I'm D-U-N I'm getting excited to decorate my NEW house. It'll be a whole new look and I can't wait!
